PDF is a document format not an image format. Chances are the image is already a JPG and embedded in the file. If you have Type In Pdf Pro, you can choose Export and then Export All Images. If you only have Reader, you can export the file in another format, such as Word, and then extract the file from that. You can also take an overall screenshot or take a snapshot within Reader. Or open in Photoshop and select import images in the dialog box. There are also a number of online resources for extracting and converting PDFs.
